TCYSA – COVID-19 (Coronavirus) response
Updated – May 18, 2020
TCYSA and our member Clubs are committed to the safety of our players and their families. In accord with the information and guidance from public health officials, the TCYSA Board previously determined it was necessary to cancel the Spring 2020 youth recreation soccer season.
Washington Youth Soccer (WYS) recently provided “Return to Play” guidelines, which can be found HERE. Based upon the guidelines from WYS, the TCYSA Board met on May 17, and formulated an outline for a modified summer season with teams playing small-sided games (3v3), which would start around the middle of July. While we are hopeful conditions permit a summer season to occur, any season is contingent on the recommendations and guidance provided by local public health officials, and, at a minimum, is conditioned on Thurston County moving into Phase 2 on June 1, 2020.
We appreciate the uncertainty of these unprecedented times, and will provide updates when available. In the interim, we encourage families to find safe ways to keep those soccer skills sharp and have fun while getting in some physical activity. Most Clubs are able to provide soccer balls to families that need them and there are many sources online for drills and skill building exercises.
